John will be talking for Software Quality NZ in Wellington on the 17th of April, at 4pm at Equinox house. Software quality metrics are good. Automated software quality metrics are better. John Smart, author of the about to be released book "Java Power Tools", will discuss a number of open source tools that can automate code quality and test coverage reporting to your project, and how to integrate them into your development process.
More importantly, John will cover how these tools can be used to reduce bugs, speed up delivery, improve the quality of your project, and hone your team's skills. In this presentation, John will be discussing tools such as Checkstyle, PMD, FindBugs, Crap4j, Cobertura and Selenium, and looking at quality metrics in the real world - how they work best as a team learning tool, and poorly as a measure of individual performance.
